Mahalo to Our Deputies and Partners
The Department of Law Enforcement proudly participated in Waikele Elementary School’s 2025 Career Day, where deputies and chaplains engaged with students to inspire the next generation. Special recognition goes to Deputy Turla of Central Patrol, Deputy Ota and Deputy Hermosura of Airport Patrol, and Chaplain Yonemura for their outstanding support at this event.
Mahalo also to those who offered to assist but were unable to attend, and to A/Lt. Mallari and Lt. Marciel for coordinating the deputies and vehicle support from Central Patrol. These partnerships highlight the importance of showing our keiki the many ways law enforcement serves the community—and reminding them that their future is our future.
Upcoming community engagements include Children and Youth Day and National Faith and Blue in October. All deputies are encouraged to participate and experience firsthand how these events positively shape and connect with Hawaiʻi’s youth.
This initiative is led by Lieutenant Michael Oakland, Commander of Program Support (Community Relations, Peer Support, Chaplain Corps, Sheriff Reserves, Records, and Central Receiving Desk). His leadership ensures that our keiki receive encouragement, guidance, and the opportunity to see positive examples of public service.
