OHS | Intelligence Enforcement Unit
Function of this organizational unit: Under the general supervision of the head of the Office of the Homeland Security (OHS), Department of Law Enforcement, this branch is responsible for the enforcement of the provisions of the criminal laws contained within the Hawaii Revised Statutes and county ordinances, including the investigation of offenses within the Hawaii Penal Code, Chapters 707- 712, Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS). The Intelligence Enforcement Unit is responsible for intelligence support to DLE operations focusing on all crimes and homeland security related threats. Purpose of the position: This position performs investigations and enforcement actions related to the collection of homeland security and criminal intelligence information including field work, undercover activities including informant management, gathering and custodial care of evidence, case preparation, serving of warrants, making arrest, assisting the US Attorney, Attorney General, or City and County Prosecutors Office in preparing cases for indictment and appearing in various courts as an expert witness.
Investigator VI
Purpose of the position: This position is responsible for planning, directing, supervising, and coordinating the activities of the Intelligence Enforcement Unit and reviewing the work of subordinate Investigators engaged in investigations activities that to pertain all crimes and homeland security related threats. The duties involve exercising all powers of police officers in accordance with Chapter 3530C4, Hawaii Revised Statues (HRS) and having direct participation involving highly complex investigations through the indictment and prosecution process.
