AWR-428 Practical Internet of Things Security

This course will cover the security elements of an Internet of Things (IoT) system including sensors, controllers, and network interfaces.This National Cybersecurity Preparedness Consortium (NCPC) training course is developed and delivered by Norwich University Applied Research Institutes(NUARI). NCPC courses are fully funded by DHS/FEMA and provided at no directcost to participants.
Course Description:
IoT devices are everywhere, today. They are in our manufacturing plants, our conference rooms, and even our homes. Are they implemented in a way that allows you to enjoy the benefits without introducing undue risk?This course introduces participants to IoT concepts,considerations, systems, and security issues. A practical exercise lab is included for students to practice research on IoT systems using standard tools.Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Describe concepts related to IoT communication
- Describe data collection methods by IoT devices
- Describe the process used by threat actors toattack IoT devices and services
- Describe methods for defending IoT systems

Prerequisites
Participants with a basic understanding of computer networks and security will excel. United States citizen, permanent resident, or prior approval is required to attend this class.
Required Materials
Participants are required to have a laptop computer that can access a public wifi connection.
